A Day in the Life of a College Pro Franchisee

As a College Pro Franchisee, everyday is different. Of course you will develop a routine–but always expect the unexpected.  May is the month where most of us will start production [painting or window cleaning]. Ideally, by production start you’ve got a good 30-40% of your summer booked when it comes time for your painters to begin producing. For a first year College Pro Franchisee this will most likely be a hectic time. You will be on a steep learning curve and feeling your way through it all, so it’s important to go in with an open mind. Once you understand that it’s a learning process, and that obstacles are natural, then you’re ready to take it all in.  In addition to all the learning, it’s crucial that you use the resources at your disposal and keep things simple – follow the systems, listen to your coach and work hard. The support from College Pro will definitely help, but, at the end of the day, it is up to you to go out and make things happen. With that you are ready for production.

Now let me take you through an average day as a College Pro Franchisee…

Expect to wake up somewhere close to 6:00AM every morning for at least the month of May. This should be a busy month as you will be starting production and at the same time looking to book a lot more work.  The first few weeks are the key to the rest of your summer because these are the weeks you will spend training your painters and filling up the middle of your summer with work. As a College Pro Franchisee, you yourself are trained and, at the same time, learn how to train others. You will spend these first few weeks going over every detail with your painters, from proper techniques to which tools are best for what. You must gain the respect of your painters during this time, as you are the College Pro Franchisee, aka The Boss.  There will be times during the first few weeks where you will need to leave the jobsites in order to deal with other clients or tend to other things in your business. During this time, you will want to evaluate how your painters work on their own, and who takes initiative.

Being a College Pro Franchisee can be very stressful, but it also can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life, or in the words of Art Williams, “I’m not telling you it’s going to be easy, I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it.”
